The First Congregational Church of Westbrook, Connecticut
Children and Youth Ministry
At Westbrook Congregational Church we highly value our children and youth as the key to our future. We warmly welcome wiggly young ones and youth
to come as they are to sing, pray, serve, and worship with us.
Becky Stambaugh comes to Westbrook Congregational Church with over 25 years of professional experience working with children and youth, both in the public school setting and in ministry. She has served as a children’s minister, youth minister and confirmation teacher, from Hollywood CA to Guilford and Westport CT. Over the years, Becky has been invited by the Southern New England Conference to teach workshops, offer assistance to other churches in need of Christian Education support, lead confirmation retreats, and facilitate a Community of Practice for CE and Faith Formation colleagues. She is the founder of Creative CE Solutions, a ministry that works with local churches to help inspire, create, and renew.
Sunday school begins in worship where youngsters experience the sights, sounds, and spirit of communal worship. First Sundays are Intergenerational worship, where our young worshippers are active participants, worshipping with the congregation. All other Sundays, after a message geared for the young at heart, children go to our Children's Chapel for engaging curriculum focused on Bible stories, service, and living our faith in everyday moments. We follow Safe Sanctuary policies, meaning two trained adults are present in all classroom settings. For more information contact Becky Stambaugh
Our Youth meet throughout the school year on Sunday evenings. We are a combined Youth Group with Old Saybrook Congregational Church, sharing in learning, activities, and service. They plan and participate in an annual week long summer mission trip. For more information about Youth Programs and activities contact our
