The First Congregational Church of Westbrook, Connecticut
Children's Ministry
We at Westbrook Congregational Church are thrilled to welcome our young ones and youth to join us for singing, praying, serving, and worshiping! We highly value our children and youth as they are the key to our future. Sunday School begins in worship, where youngsters experience communal worship's sights, sounds, and spirit. Our Middle School students split their time between attending Sunday School classes and intentional Sundays in worship, where they learn various ways to be leaders and participants in our faith community. We follow Safe Church policies, meaning two trained adults are in all instructional spaces. For more information, contact Becky Stambaugh. Join us for an engaging curriculum focused on Bible stories, service, and living our faith in everyday moments!
Youth Ministries
Our inter-church Youth Group serves high schoolers attending congregational churches in the greater Valley Shore area. Currently, we include teens from Essex, Westbrook, and Old Saybrook. Our Youth typically meet two Sundays a month at the Old Saybrook Congregational Church from 5:00-6:30 pm. Gatherings are filled with fun games, meaningful activities, deep learning, and hearty discussions (we’ve also been known to have some pretty cool snacks). The goal is to find ways of showing kindness while living out our faith in practical ways. If you’re looking for a safe place to hang out, meet some other great teens, and find meaning in your spiritual life, we’re the group for you!
Our leadership team is headed by Becky Stambaugh, who also serves as the Christian Education director with the Westbrook Congregational Church. She comes to this role with over 25 years of professional experience working with youth in public schools and ministry. Rounding out the team are incredible pastors and lay people from our churches who supply additional sets of hands, hearts, and brains!
Throughout the year, there are also opportunities for service projects, retreats, mission trips, and Confirmation programming; contact Becky Stambaugh.
